Summit County government is awaiting news on three grants, totaling approximately $170,000, submitted through the open space and trails department to the Colorado State Parks State Trails Program this month.
A $45,000 planning grant could make way for a recpath connection over Hoosier Pass, Summit County Open Space and Trails Department director Brian Lorch said. It was submitted in partnership with Breckenridge, Fairplay, Alma and Blue River with the goal of funding an analysis of the opportunities and constraints of building the recpath connection.
It would be 17 miles of at-grade and separated trail, Lorch said. It would start at the terminus of the Summit County path in Breck and end in Fairplay, likely using and improving the existing path on the south side of Hoosier Pass that connects Alma and Fairplay.
