POSITION TYPE:
AmeriCorps*VISTA Position; full-time, 12-month term of service

LOCATION:
Office in Steamboat Springs, Colorado

SUBSISTENCE:
Per AmeriCorps*VISTA guidelines; $865/mo stipend, $4,725 education

ALLOWANCE:
award upon completion of term of service

BENEFITS:
$300/month housing allowance, health insurance through AmeriCorps*VISTA; Federal holidays; ten sick/vacation days; travel paid to training; relocation allowance per AmeriCorps*VISTA guidelines

    ABOUT RMYC:
    Rocky Mountain Youth Corps (RMYC) provides youth and young adults with comprehensive services to help them develop job skills, work ethic, environmental awareness, academic success and healthy lifestyles. RMYC programs help youth make a difference in themselves and their community through meaningful service opportunities, educational experiences and group recreational activities. RMYC helps youth develop the skills they need to succeed in the classroom, the home, and in the workforce. RMYC is a member of The Corps Network, a network of over 100 youth corps nationwide and is one of eleven accredited youth corps with the Colorado Youth Corps Association.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:
    The VISTA Technology Outreach Coordinator (TOC) will develop and implement the Capacity Building through Technology outreach program. The goal of this program is to boost our organizational infrastructure-thereby expanding our capacity to reach youth and young adults by providing resources for participants to move out of poverty. The VISTA TOC will create technology systems to enhance recruitment and internal communications. This position will include a major revision of our website as well as adding multimedia/communication functions, creating structured photo and video system for field visits and RMYC special events and developing systems for administrative staff to update website content.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Website Enhancement - Revise RMYC website and develop functions that will enhance recruitment, alumni contact, and current member communication. This will include revising the website, adding multimedia/communication functions to website, updating links and content and developing systems for administrative staff to update website content.

    • Outreach Coordination - Create and launch systems for gathering photos and video footage that provide additional resources for corps member recruitment and development and program outreach. This position will also include other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree is preferred; however, some college combined with work experience may substitute for a degree.

    • Proficient with HTML and web technologies.

    • Strong design skills and ability to create using production and web design tools.

    • Experience with photography and video.

    • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook.

    • Self-directed, highly motivated, reliable, with a results and solution oriented perspective; organized and flexible with strong time-management skills.

    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. A sense of humor a plus.

    • Good interpersonal skills, team-oriented, enjoy working with others.

    • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

    • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

    • Must be 21 years or older.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    Manual Functions:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to operate objects, tools or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus. The employee is occasionally required to drive a RMYC vehicle (potentially a manual transmission). Employee may be required to carry a backpack with personal essentials and program supplies for extended periods of time and/or long distances in remote wilderness locations.
