The Conservation Corps:
The Conservation Corps provides youth and young adults with the opportunities and tools to build strong bonds to community, increase academic success, and live a healthy and productive adulthood. Since 1993, this cornerstone program of RMYC serves 100-150 young people ages 16-25 years old each year through residential, environmental conservation projects and education. RMYC operates three Conservation Corps crews:
Projects include building and maintaining trails, bridges, and fences, watershed restoration, campgrounds and parks, beetle kill mitigation, and hazardous fuels reduction. The program incorporates comprehensive education focusing on career development, leadership, healthy lifestyles, environmental education, and civic and social responsibility. The residential nature allows for deep and thorough involvement with this educational component and corps culture experience. Conservation Corps participants are paid wages for their service and are eligible to receive an AmeriCorps education award for their education expenses.
