After a long and fruitful career with RMYC, seeing the organization through ups, downs, and unprecedented growth, Chrissy’s last day will be March 30, 2026. Chrissy will be replaced by new CFO Karen Donoghue.

“I truly believe we are changing the world from the ground up,” she says of her time at RMYC. “Providing our members with the opportunity to master teamwork, communication, and mutual respect through meaningful, hard work in the beautiful outdoors is pure magic. It reminds me every day why our mission matters. I will deeply miss my incredible coworkers and their families, who have made my career so personally and professionally rewarding. Every day at RMYC has been a privilege and honor, and I am forever grateful. Thank you all!”

Raising two children in Steamboat who benefited from RMYC programs, Chrissy first began working with RMYC in 2014, eagerly signing on to help an organization engaging young people in the outdoors. Chrissy started her career with Arthur Andersen & Co. before earning her CPA and MBA. She brought broad experience in financial management, accounting, and administration in the health care, construction, airline, and real estate sectors to her CFO position with RMYC, which benefitted greatly from her expertise. 

She also had the energy needed for a job revolving around getting youth outdoors. Chrissy spent seven years competing internationally on the U.S. Women's Cross Country Ski Team and was inducted into the Colorado Sports Women’s Hall of Fame. While she greatly loved hertenure at RMYC, she’ll now have more time to enjoy skiing, hiking, biking, fishing, and exploring Colorado’s wilderness with her family. 

And she’s not letting any grass grow under her feet after her last day. On April 1, she’s leaving with family and friends to backcountry ski in Norway’s Lyngen Alps. Afterward, she plans to spend three weeks cross-country skiing in Sjusjoen, Norway, before visiting friends in the southern part of the country. “I skied a lot in Norway in my past career and have always wanted to go back in spring,” she says.  

“We will dearly miss working with her,” says RMYC COO Mark Wertheimer. “In addition to her tireless work that spanned well beyond a typical CFO role, Chrissy's presence at RMYC has been a cornerstone of RMYC's culture. Staff, project partners, and most importantly, the young people RMYC serves have enjoyed Chrissy's warm and supportive demeanor. She always goes out of her way to help make people's experience with RMYC the best it can be.”

RMYC CEO Ryan Banks also heralds her contributions to the organization. “Chrissy is a foundational brick to this entire organization,” he says. “She has led us through amazing growth periods during her 13 years here, and her leadership, vision, and work ethic will be painfully missed. 

“She’s the kind of person who can never be replaced, we can only hope to fill the hole she will leave. More importantly than the work she completed and the financial leadership she provided is the kind of person she is outside of the workplace. Yes, she is a CFO and CPA and has an MBA, but the title I hold dearest to describe her is friend and mentor. I am so grateful to know her both professionally and personally. 

She’s been a shoulder to lean on for so many who have called RMYC home. Her passion for life and her loyalty to those closest to her are thebedrock that guides her everyday life. She is a role model for all those around her, including me. What I will miss most is that my daily life will not have Chrissy in it anymore. So much of life is the small interactions, the smiles, the laughs, the high fives. People like Chrissy are rare, and we can only savor the time spent on the road of life together.”
